The Institute of Brewing & Distilling (IBD) is pleased to announce that Tom Shelston has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer and will hold this position effective January 1stSt
February 2023. Tom was preceded by Douglas Murray, IBD Interim Chief Executive Officer and Immediate Past President of the Institute, who will continue in the organization as Trustee of the Board.
Tom brings a wealth of experience to IBD, having worked across sectors to help nonprofits and membership organizations execute growth strategies based on member and audience engagement and build quality partnerships.
With expertise in change management, audience insights and segmentation, marketing, operations and strategy, the IBD Board of Trustees found the perfect person in Tom to help IBD fulfill its ambitious plans for growth and member engagement.
Tom has delivered successful projects for the Royal Horticultural Society and the National Trust and other national and global organisations, increasing their market share and commercial output by creating highly engaged membership communities.
Tom’s initial responsibility will be to scale IBD’s global reach and strengthen the lifetime value of its qualifications, learning and development portfolios and membership value proposition to create a well-connected and strong community of professionals in the brewing, distilling and related industries to accomplish.
Regarding his appointment, Tom said: “I am excited to join the Institute of Brewing & Distilling and work with the global community of experts to increase the value of the membership base and expand our reach into new industry segments and markets.”
