Before establishing North Shore Smiles, Dr. Hakimi was a pediatric dentist at Kiddsmiles in Manhasset, New York, from 2016 to 2023. She also gained experience as a family and cosmetic dentist at Central Park Dental Group in New York City, a general dental practice specializing in family and cosmetic dentistry, between 2009 and 2013, and as an attending in the department of dental medicine at Queens Hospital Center. Following her general practice residency, Dr. Hakimi notably worked alongside her father, a board-certified maxillofacial prosthodontist.
As part of her civic commitments, Dr. Hakimi has been active on the board and as a donor to Give Kids A Smile, a collaborative effort with the Nassau County Dental Society that involves renting the Aviation Museum on Long Island to provide essential dental services to underserved children in the area. She also supports local food banks in her community and donates to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and America.
In preparation for her career in dentistry, Dr. Hakimi received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and marketing from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University in 2008. She subsequently completed a general practice residency at Queens Hospital in 2009 and a pediatric dental residency at Harlem Hospital Center in Manhattan, New York, in 2015. Dr. Hakimi received board certification as a pediatric dentist in 2016.
As part of her ongoing professional obligations, Dr. Hakimi remains up-to-date in her field as a member of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Nassau County Dental Society.
Dr. Hakimi’s professional success has earned her notoriety as the Resident of the Year. The Harlem Hospital Center also recognized her with an Appreciation Award for Outstanding Services of Residents and a Resident’s Research Fair Award. Dr. Hakimi credits both her mother and father as constant sources of inspiration having watched each of them launch and grow successful medical and dental practices of their own.
