Kyiv, UKRAINE, July 06, 2023 /24-7press release/ – Rebuilding Ukraine, an international NGO made up of individuals and groups dedicated to both protecting and rebuilding Ukraine during and after the Russian invasion, is initiating a 24-hour online hackathon to develop new technologies and refine, which should help Ukraine to rebuild.
According to co-founders Svetlana Shevchenko, Amy Chang and John Toomey, the project will bring together companies, startup incubators, churches, and students and experts from Stanford, Berkeley, Singularity University, Oxford, as well as Taras Shevchenko National University and Lviv Polytechnic National University in the Ukraine should develop new technologies and refine existing ones. “We are interested in supporting any type of technology that will help Ukraine defend and rebuild, including decarbonization, AI, mental health technology, cybersecurity, sustainable building materials, drones, green energy, AI , hydrology, civil engineering, building materials, SAAS.” , autonomous vehicles, aviation and transportation,” says Chang.
A big part of the program is to support female entrepreneurs living outside of Ukraine who want to start an online startup before they return. There are an estimated 4 million of them in Poland, Romania and other parts of Europe.
A junior department prepares the next generation of entrepreneurs who are still children through arts and crafts classes that encourage imagination, problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Also planned is a database of AI-generated online courses in Ukrainian that will provide valuable skills needed for every aspect of reconstruction. The courses are created in Coursera, Delilah.ai and EdApp and shared both with students in the country and with the Ukrainian diaspora, consisting of 8 million Ukrainian citizens currently living abroad as refugees.
Rebuilding Ukraine also creates the world’s largest matching database to connect companies and start-ups involved in national reconstruction with funders.
The United Nations estimates that more than 15 trillion hryvnia ($400 billion) will be needed to repair the damage caused by the current war in Ukraine. Even if the war is not over yet, it is clear to many that reconstruction must begin now.
