An acclaimed Santa Fe architect with a proven track record of success in the industry, Mr. Lloyd excels as the president and chief executive officer of the eponymous Lloyd & Associates Architects. Leveraging his considerable expertise in commercial and residential design, he has collaborated with others on numerous projects throughout his career, including Santa Fe Community College, New Mexico Highlands University’s Douglas Hall, Plaza del Sur, the Rainbow Vision Retirement Community, and various renovations and additions to the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture. Additionally, Mr. Lloyd has enhanced local urban design through his work in El Mayorazgo, an international design competition in Southern Spain, a resort hotel, a golf course, and more.
Before establishing himself professionally, Mr. Lloyd earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of New Mexico in 1975 and 1978, respectively. Subsequently, he expanded his industry knowledge by becoming a licensed architect in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and Colorado. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Lloyd aligns himself with several organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the local Chamber of Commerce, and the New Mexico Society of Architects, where he previously served as president and director.
Given his considerable breadth of accomplishments, Mr. Lloyd has been honored many times. In addition to receiving The Chicago Anthenaeum American Achievement Award through the College of Santa Fe’s Visual Arts Center, he won the New Mexico Business Journal’s Associated General Contractors 10 Best Buildings Award for Douglas Hall at New Mexico Highlands University and La Posada De Santa Fe. Similarly, Mr. Lloyd was recognized with the Best Blueprint Award by the American Society of Professional Estimators. He became the Grand Hacienda Winner through the Santa Fe Home Builders Association’s Tour of Homes for his work on Monte Sereno House.
Over the years, Mr. Lloyd has also been featured in various publications for outstanding architectural efforts, such as the Albuquerque Journal, Trend Magazine, Leading Residential Architects, Houses for All Regions, House Beautiful, and more. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in building the El Dorado Hotel during the early years of his career.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Lloyd also credits his success to working with renowned architects such as Ricardo Legorreta and Pedro Garcia in the Costa Del Sol of Spain. Through them and his passion for New Mexico, he has been able to successfully capture the state’s natural light through his work.
