During the early stages of his career, Dr. Yu gained valuable expertise in the management of patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other central nervous system disorders in various roles with the University of California, Irvine and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Yu has contributed to over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including “Treatment of sporadic hemiplegic migraine with calcium channel blocker verapamil,” “Current management of spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage”, and “Simple Imaging Guide for Endovascular Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke.” Dr. Yu has published most of his scholarly activities in top professional journals, including Neurology, Stroke, Journal of American Heart Association, and Neurocritical Care.
Before establishing himself in the field of Neurocritical Care and Stroke, Dr. Yu earned an MD from Jiangxi Medical College, a Master of Science in pharmacology from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, and a PhD in experimental medicine at McGill University. Subsequently, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, a neurology residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a neurocritical care fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Yu is a member of the American Neurological Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the Neurocritical Care Society, the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. In conjunction with his work, he also contributes to his community by donating to various charities and serving as a speaker with such organizations as the Chinese Stroke Society and the Chinese American Neurologist Association.
