“When I draw, I think of peace and home.” Philanthropists created clothing with prints of drawings made by children who lost their parents during the war.

The winter holidays are just around the corner, and this year more than ever it’s worth filling them with warmth. A t-shirt or long-sleeved shirt with a print from the stations of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund can be an excellent gift for your friends and family.

The Foundation’s wards are children who lost one or both parents during the massive Russian invasion of Ukraine. Art therapy classes and drawing help children recover from traumatic events.

It is much more difficult for children than for adults to find words to express their feelings. Art therapy helps to solve such difficulties, – explains Marta Bilyk, a psychologist at the Children of Heroes Charity Fund.

“With the help of drawings, symbols and self-created plots, it is possible to express what is difficult to put into words with his hands. The child gains a sense of security and renewed strength to overcome life’s difficulties.

“I like to draw animals and nature; I always worry that the drawing will be as good as possible. When there is a psychologist around, I feel better” – Olya, 9.

“I imagine my family and flowers. I want everything to be good” – Ira, 6.

“I often manage to draw game characters. It’s interesting. And in art therapy, it’s even cooler because someone wants to know more about me” – Mykyta, 11.

The Children of Heroes Charity Fund and the online store CustomPrint launched a campaign to sell clothes with drawings of the fund’s wards to help children rehabilitate and return to everyday life.

Ordering such goods for yourself or as a gift for loved ones is an easy way to help children. You can see examples of clothing by following the link.

“50% of the foundation’s wards were forced to leave their homes and rebuild their lives from scratch,” says Anna Khomenko, executive director of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund. Currently, most families are in the grieving phase, so this is crucial to help them restore their inner strength and meet the most basic needs of families. This support will continue to evolve into more strategic programs (training, mentoring and career guidance) for which we also take ownership.”

The Children of Heroes Charity Fund cares for more than 1,400 children who have lost one or both parents to the war. The foundation wants to care for 5000 children, which will help minimize the loss of the closest children and provide them with the necessary things.

The fund provides support in 6 areas including psychological, legal, financial, medical, emergency and socialization. The organization accompanies children until they come of age and focuses on a decent, active, educated life.

If you know children who lost their parents in the war and need support, please pass the fund’s contacts on to their legal guardians.
