Mr. Van Nostrand is a distinguished figure in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, known for his expertise in sales, marketing and life sciences. He previously ran the same consultancy business from 2012 to 2015 and from 2005 until 2010. His career is marked by significant achievements and contributions that have shaped the landscape of these fields.

Mr. Van Nostrand began his career at Baxter, where he worked as a pharmaceutical representative immediately after college. Over the next several years, he advanced through the corporation to become the vice president of marketing and later became the first leading burn specialist in the United States, lecturing at 250 academic centers nationwide on burn care treatment. In 1980, he founded the Journal of Burn Care & Research with $6,000, which became a standard publication in burn care worldwide. He sold it to the American Burn Association for $250,000 just a few years later.

In 1984, Mr. Van Nostrand founded IN Vivo Inc., one of only a few contract research organizations globally at that time. He grew the company from three employees to 400 with offices in Japan, Europe and the United States before selling it in 1994. His pioneering work in electronic medical records transformed clinical research from paper to electronic formats, and he was also instrumental in helping Pfizer develop one of the first electronic adverse event reporting systems.

Following his success with IN Vivo, Mr. Van Nostrand held several executive positions, including president of clinical services and senior vice president of business development at Dendrite International from 1997 to 2003, during which time he played a crucial role in doubling the company’s revenue from $100 million to $200 million. He continued his leadership as the senior vice president and general manager at First Consulting Group until 2005 and later as the vice president and chief business development officer at Copernicus Group IRB between 2010 and 2012. From 2013 until 2014, he served as a senior business development consultant at Hurley Consulting Associates and was the executive vice president of global client services and marketing at Altasciences LA between 2015 and 2017. From 2018 to the present, he has been consulting to ClinActis, LTD, a Singapore, CRO in Asia Pacific.

Laying the groundwork for Mr. Van Nostrand’s extensive career was his educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Seton Hall University in 1972 and later acquired a regulatory compliance certification from the same institution in 2006. His upbringing played a significant role in shaping his character and work ethic; losing his father at a young age, he was raised by his mother who instilled discipline, organization and respect — traits that enabled him to excel as an entrepreneur, mentor, coach and founder.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Van Nostrand is actively involved in civic activities such as supporting Alzheimer’s and cancer causes, food drives and various charities. He coached girls’ basketball to a county championship and has also been recognized for his own athletic achievements with induction into the Hall of Fame for sports at St. Rose High School.
