    MONTGOMERY, AL, August 16, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — Yolanda Yvonne Sayles, BS, MS, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Driven to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her, Ms. Sayles leverages more than four decades of experience in her work at the United States Department of Defense (DOD). Well-regarded as an expert in information technology, she has found success working in various environments: education, healthcare, commercial, and state and local government. Spending much of her time working with various teams and a diverse array of cybersecurity software and hardware, she is responsible for overseeing management, testing/evaluations, configuration management, database administration, and programming utilizing government software repositories for software distribution, among other duties.

Spending much of her career at Gunter Air Force Base in Alabama, Ms. Sayles began her professional journey as a technical support specialist and programmer in 1983, after which she advanced through a variety of IT roles of increasing seniority and specialization over the next several decades, rising to become a senior business analyst and database specialist/engineer. During this time, she developed a wealth of expertise in a diverse variety of skill sets, including team leadership, requirements analysis, and various software/applications including Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and business development. She also worked for several federal contractors, including Indrasoft, SAIC, CACI Federal Systems, GTE Government Systems, Potomac Systems Engineering, Advanced Systems Design, CDO Technologies, and Datum Software Inc., to name only a few. She also served as a federal employee.

Before establishing herself professionally, Ms. Sayles earned a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems from Alabama State University in 1982 – notably, she is a past national secretary for the Alabama State University National Alumni Association and currently serves as Alabama State University, National Alumni Association, Southeast Region secretary. Ms. Sayles continued to expand her professional knowledge by completing a Master of Science in business management at Troy University and earning a Security+ CE and program manager certification. Since 2022, she has been working toward a PhD in psychology and gerontology at North University. To remain aware of developments in the psychology field, she has maintained her affiliation with the American Psychological Association, Psi Chi and, most recently, the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Outside of her professional service, Ms. Sayles has held several positions within the Knights of Peter Claver, Inc. fraternal service order. The organization notably named her as their Ladies Auxiliary National Grand Lady of the Year in 2019, Gulf Coast District Grand Lady of the Year, and bestowed her with a Silver Medal of Merit during the same year, among other accolades to her credit. Likewise hailed for her academic achievements, she has been honored with inclusion on the Dean’s List of National University, earned the Spirit of Marion Award from Alabama State University, and received a Jewel of the Year honorific from Delta Sigma Theta. Inc. She was also named Outstanding Alumna by Lee High School, Montgomery, AL. Additionally, she was named Alabama State University’s Miss National Alumni Association Queen in 2022 for Elmore County, AL Alumni Chapter.

While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Sayles is most proud to have provided outstanding technical and customer assistance/support throughout the course of her career. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far, she credits much of her success to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities. Additionally, her empathy and compassion for others has allowed her to serve as an effective mentor and support young women in the IT field – especially those within the Black community. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sayles intends to pivot away from her work with the DOD and establish a psychology practice/research/counseling specializing in gerontology, through which she can provide care and support to underserved older populations.

Her greatest accomplishment is her daughter LaQuandra Robinson, who followed in her mother’s footsteps in the field of Information Technology and pursued her career in New York.
