Inter Miami reached the playoffs last season but unfortunately fell in the first round to New York City FC.

After achieving their goal for the season, Phil Neville’s contract was renewed and he will work alongside owner and former Manchester United teammate David Beckham to try and push Inter Miami even further forward.

However, Miami have suffered a blow to their ambitions ahead of the new campaign. Elite Talent Development Coach Brett Uttley has departed and will become the head coach of Austin FC II. The side will debut in the MLS NEXT league in 2023 and will focus on developing talent for the club’s first team.

Uttley’s coaching had helped a number of youngsters reach the first team including Neville’s own son Harvey who made his debut last season under his father.

In a statement on their website, Miami stated: “We’d like to thank Brett for the great work he did with the Club and congratulate him on this exciting new opportunity. We’re very happy to help in the development of our staff and support their advancement; this is a well-deserved move for Brett and we have no doubt he’ll continue to find success as he advances in his coaching career.”

Uttley also posted a thank you to his former club: “It’s been a pleasure working for Inter Miami over these three memorable seasons. I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to Chris Henderson, Phil Neville and all the staff members that have helped make my time at the Club such a positive experience. I’ve learned a lot in my time with Inter Miami and will take those lessons with me as I move forward on to this new opportunity in my career. I wish everybody at the Club continued success in the future.”
