ORLANDO, Fla. – Fourteen high school football players from Jones High School recently took the next step and signed letters of intent to play at the college.
Derrick Rodgers, senior wide receiver at Jones, committed to Purdue University.
“I made my decision just last week when I visited Purdue,” Rodgers said at Jones’ early signing ceremony. “Every time I left, I just got better opportunities to commit to and I finally found my ultimate destination.”

Rodgers has been a key to helping Jones win games in recent years. Now he’s ready to join his new team in the Big Ten.
“As we communicated – we were already a family. We could talk to each other. When I’m comfortable, I can show my skills at the best level,” he said.
