DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Elijah Walker isn’t just a state champion; he’s a two-sport state champ.
Walker, a senior at Mainland High School, recently signed his national letter of intent to play college football for Alabama State.
He was one of several players from the Mainland Buccaneers’ football squad to sign to compete at the next level.

A strong offensive lineman, Walker not only helped lead the football to the first state title in 20 years, but he also claimed a championship in weightlifting.
“A state champion…like, that’s what everyone dreams of throughout every state,” Walker told News 6. “They dream of being a state champion. We won in football, and I also had the opportunity to win a state championship in weightlifting, too. So I’ll be the first two-timer in a long time at Mainland High School [and] the first weightlifting state champ too.”
