ORLANDO, Fla. – Calling the Dr. Phillips girls’ basketball team “elite” is an understatement.

The team are two-time defending state champions in Class 7A.

Senior guard Trinity Turner is helping run the show for the Dr. Phillips Panthers. Turner is averaging nearly 20 points a game this season, just like she did last year as a junior.

“She’s just one of those raw ‘dawgs’ on the court,” head coach Anthony Jones said. “She makes everybody around her better, (and she is a) very unselfish player. She knows when she needs to step up, and she knows when she needs to set up her teammates for a great shot.”

Following graduation, Turner will head up to Georgia where she’ll play for the University of Georgia. But, she says there’s still work to be done at Dr. Phillips in the coming weeks.

“I’m ready to be three-time state champs,” Turner told News 6, “(and) show the world me and my team, not just me, but my team, we got some hoopers as well.”
