Splinter Cell Remake: everything we know so far

Ubisoft has finally confirmed a Splinter Cell Remake is on the way, bringing back the popular stealth series after a long absence.

The Splinter Cell series has been providing fans with stealth action-adventures since 2002. Known for their groundbreaking interactive environments, splinter group sees you as Sam Fisher, a highly skilled black ops agent who must defeat various enemies. After 10 years we can’t wait to bring Sam and the original 2002 game to the Splinter Cell Remake.

Ubisoft Toronto, the developers behind it Far cry 6bring us those Splinter Cell Remake. Since Ubisoft didn’t come up with any specific agreements that would force them to release exclusively under the PlayStation banner, you can expect this remake to grace Xbox, PC and PlayStation platforms.

Unfortunately, we probably won’t be able to get our hands on them Splinter Cell Remake for a couple of years. Ubisoft confirmed in 2021 that the game was “in the very early stages of development.” That means we probably won’t see the remake release until at least 2024.

Given that Ubisoft has said it expects “next-gen graphics and gameplay”, we assume this remake will be released on (at least) PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. While Splinter Cell Remake will probably be available on game pass We’re not sure how soon it will appear on the Xbox service. It is possible that a delay will be made to guarantee good initial sales of the game.

We haven’t seen a gameplay trailer for that Splinter Cell Remake not yet, but Ubisoft has released an announcement video about the project.

This trailer celebrates all that Splinter Cell has accomplished and how it has transformed Ubisoft’s identity. The Toronto-based studio started work on this stealth game Raymana bright and colorful platform game, and add it to the AAA lifestyle.

We know that Splinter Cell Remake will revisit the world and story of the first game released in 2002.

The original storyline begins with two US undercover agents going missing in Georgia, resulting in black ops agent Sam Fisher being sent to investigate. As Sam searches for the missing agents, he uncovers a larger conspiracy involving a corrupt government and nuclear missiles.

While this story was great in 2002, the first game isn’t known for its narrative excellence. Luckily we could get a makeover of this dated property. A screenwriter job ad [Splinter Cell] at Ubisoft Toronto has surfaced online, giving a hint of what we can expect. As discovered by Tech4Gamer (opens in new tab)This confirms that Ubisoft is planning to update the Splinter Cell storyline for modern audiences.

“We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game as we explore our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable,” the listing confirms. While producer Matt West has previously stated that Ubisoft wants to ensure the “spirit of the early games remains intact”, expect some updates.

In the announcement blog post, producer Matt West revealed that the Splinter Cell Remake is being rebuilt from the ground up, with visual and design updates. But West also confirmed the opposite rumorthe remake will not feature an open world.

“So while we’re building it from the ground up, we’ll be updating it visually, as well as some of the design elements to suit player comfort and expectations, and we’ll be keeping it linear like the original games, not open world,” wrote West.

Ubisoft has confirmed this Splinter Cell Remake will be developed on its Snowdrop engine, which will also be used for the upcoming Star Wars game and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
