There are only a few days left until then The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Releases have some speedrunners starting to plan their next adventures.
Six long years have passed since the release of Nintendo breath of the wild, and so far, a few dedicated speedrunners have managed to get the gameplay time down to just 23 minutes and 50 seconds. One of those fans goes by the name of Player 5 and is not only the current world record holder for Any% breath of the wild (meaning any percentage completed) but also managed to beat the game 50 times in just one day!
The speedrunner community surrounding Zelda games is almost unlike any other, with some of the most dedicated fans out there. With breath of the wild almost completely conquered, many now face towards Tears of the Kingdom as the next adventure to break games and complete missions in record time.
Same goal, new game
In conversation with IGN (opens in new tab)Player 5 spoke about his hopes and fears Tears of the Kingdom. After six years of breaking and replaying the same title over and over again, fans are looking forward to doing it all again with something completely new.
“I hope none of that [Breath of the Wild‘s speedrunning techniques] transferred, so we have kind of a brand new set of techniques that we can use,” said Player 5. “Because I can just play breath of the wild if I want to take advantage of those glitches… It should be fun to figure things out in the early stages of the game before there’s an established route.
Fortunately, these wishes come true tears of kingdoms impressive sandbox and mechanics that aim to outshine its predecessor. With new features like Fuse, Ascend, Recall and Ultrahand Skills shown in the Gameplay trailer (opens in new tab) In March there seems to be enough for speedrunners to sink their teeth into.
“Fusion could do the weapon handling for the fight against the bosses Tears of the Kingdom Pretty cool, pretty unique,” said Player 5. “I think Ascend could be pretty interesting. It’ll be interesting to see if we can break that.” Weapon routing is essential to speedrunning a title, allowing players to take down bosses quickly. At first glance it looks like Fuse could be made just for this function.
Nothing for mere mortals
As someone who takes at least an hour to customize their character, the idea of racing through any title fills me with dread as my brain doesn’t work that fast. If I spend a lot of money on a AAA game, such as tears of kingdom, I want to enjoy every moment of it and get my money’s worth.
Some speedrunners even think the same way; The Greatest Thomas spoke to IGN and discussed how he plans to start a loose playthrough before a game break begins. Seems to be enjoying the plot of this widely anticipated film Nintendo Switch Title is essential for every fan and not just for mere mortals like me.
