It looks like that Google pixel watch 2 is around the corner, according to sources: Google is rumored to be following the same schedule as last year, launching the updated smartwatch with its flagship phones in October.
This is based on information received from 9to5Google (opens in new tab), although we don’t really have more details on what to expect. The original Pixel Watch was teased at Google IO 2022 before fully launching alongside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
According to well-known tipster Jon Prosser, there will also be a cheaper watch for kids around the same time, possibly with Fitbit branding. It looks like the Google Pixel 8 Event will be a busy one.
I can confirm as we were working on the story in the background. From what I understand, Google is planning two watches for later this fall. 1) Pixel Watch 2, which will be launched with Pixel 8, and 2) a version for children, although this will most likely be branded as “Fitbit” https://t.co/pcbgfk3Af1May 5, 2023
room for improvement
The original Google pixel watch has received a lot of praise, but there is also a lot of room for improvement. First of all, a more powerful processor should mean faster performance and better battery life, while it’s possible that the new version will pack more sensors.
On the design front, it’s unlikely that too much would change considering we’re only in the second version of the product – and Google will want to keep support for straps from the first-gen Pixel Watch to help everyone out who are thinking of upgrading.
Apparently, it’s still not confirmed that Pixel Watch 2 will be the wearable’s actual name, although it’s difficult to see what other name Google might use. Expect a few more leaks to surface by October.
Analysis: Google is making advances in hardware
With the Google Pixel 7a and the Google Pixel Fold Rumor has it that Google is just around the corner and it’s another busy year for Google on the hardware front — and one in which it’s also venturing into new devices and form factors.
It’s clear that Google is gaining more and more confidence in its hardware division. For a long time it was all about search and apps, but now it has a significant portfolio of physical products that you can actually pick up and use too.
That’s true of the Pixel Watch 2, too: releasing a second version of the wearable just a year after the release of the first brings Google in one fell swoop Apple Watch style schedule and it will be interesting to see if this continues in the future.
With GoogleIO 2023 If something happens next week, it’s possible we’ll mention the Pixel Watch 2 – which is exactly what Google did with the first Pixel Watch last year. We could also learn some details about what it will actually entail.
