The number of people who have fled violence in Sudan since fighting between rival military officials began in Khartoum in mid-April and quickly destabilized the whole country has now passed the 100,000 mark.

“Reports from our teams at the border indicate that new waves of arrivals are still underway,” the agency said in a press release, estimating that up to 200,000 people could be forced to cross into eastern Chad over the next three months to flee.

The agency said the rainy season is fast approaching and a massive logistical effort will be required to transport refugees out of the border areas for their safety and protection.
