President Droupadi Murmu announced on Friday that India will soon be establishing a Consulate in Auckland, fulfilling a long-standing request from the Indian diaspora in New Zealand. This significant move is expected to further strengthen the diplomatic ties between India and New Zealand.
On the final day of her visit to New Zealand, President Murmu addressed members of the Indian community at a reception organized by the High Commission of India in Auckland. During her speech, she acknowledged the vital contributions made by the Indian diaspora to the development and prosperity of New Zealand. She highlighted their influence across various sectors, including business, education, healthcare, and technology, emphasizing that their contributions are invaluable to both nations.
The President commended the Indian community for their dedication, hard work, and creativity, noting that these qualities have been guiding principles for generations and will continue to inspire future endeavors. She also expressed her satisfaction with the rapid advancement of bilateral relations between India and New Zealand, attributing this progress to high-level exchanges and delegation visits that have fostered deeper understanding and opened new avenues for cooperation.
